“A truly reciprocal relationship with parents goes far beyond the settling–in period.”
At Windsor Kindergarten we believe that our partnership with you as parents is central to the learning and development of your child. As we see it, when your child becomes a member of the Kindergarten, you become a member of our community too.

Your involvement in Kindergarten Life This begins before your child joins the Kindergarten. We start with a home visit by the key person followed by a visit to the Kindergarten for you and your child. We find these visits invaluable in helping your child settle in quickly and happily and for us to get to know you and your child better. As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of a smooth and happy transition from home to Kindergarten. Right from the first day, we will share and exchange information with you and we encourage you to support and build on your child’s learning and development at home.
Regular Parent Meetings After the initial transition period, you will be invited to termly reviews of your child’s progress and discussion on his or her individual development goals. Each child has a portfolio book, a working record of his or her achievements at the Kindergarten to which you have open access at all times. This is in accordance with the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage which sets the standards for the development, learning and care of all children from birth to five. In addition to these regular reviews, we are always happy to discuss any matters regarding your child, either before of after each session or, if you prefer, we will offer you an appointment for a longer discussion. Your input is very important to us and we encourage you to share your views and contribute to your child’s learning journey as much as possible throughout his or her time with us.
Kindergarten Visits and Outings We
will always make you feel welcome when you visit the Kindergarten. There are frequent opportunities to help on outings, to read stories to
the children or spend time playing with them. Throughout the year, there
are special events including Father’s Day/Mother’s Day, picnics
and coffee mornings. We value whatever contribution you can bring to the
Kindergarten, whether it is your time, special skills or cultural
background.
News and Events We will keep you informed about Kindergarten news and events through our weekly newsletters, the parents’ information board and home/Kindergarten diaries. In addition, we organise regular family learning sessions where we explain some of our teaching methods and where we suggest ways in which you can compliment and support your child’s learning at home.
“Practitioners develop excellent partnerships with parents who are very confident in the care and education their children receive. (Ofsted January 2010)
